Do you struggle with behaviours your dogs do that don’t make you love them any less but do frustrate or annoy you?
I’ve been exactly where you are. Some of the issues I’ve faced in the past include:
Destroying the mail
When it comes through the letter box. Keira would literally eat it so we didn’t realise for a while why people would say they sent us something when, as far as we were concerned, we hadn’t received it. Then Keira got lazy and we would come home to tiny little piece of envelopes or letters. We fixed that by putting a wire basket over the letter box to catch the mail but keep it away from dear Keira’s teeth!
Chewing
Who hasn’t had to deal with this? Especially when they’re puppies. Many dogs, of course, grow out of this but not all. Thankfully mine have grown out of it but at one point I had 3 Bernese under a year old, all chewing! LOL!
Barking
Oh my goodness! We still have this issue sometimes with Teddy though he’s a lot better than he used to be. He’s a naturally vocal dog. He makes all sorts of funny sounds and when he’s excited or playing he always barks. Of course we don’t mind when we’re playing with him but we have had to work on inappropriate barking with him.
Counter (or worktop in the UK) surfing
Oh yes. My girl Schnee was particularly good at this one.
Pulling when out walking
Teddy was dreadful for this when we first rescued him. It took understanding and consistency to stop this.
Separation anxiety
This is awful isn’t it? We get that we don’t want to go out because of the distress we cause when we do. I was taught an animal communication trick many years ago, before I’d ever heard of animal communication that sorted this one out. It may not work for all dogs but it worked like a charm for mine.
Hyperactivity
This can drive people mad when a dog just won’t settle and seems to want you interacting with them 24/7.
Not coming back when called
Oh yes… I’ve learned so much about how to work on this.
Begging
We bring this on ourselves, but how do we avoid falling into the trap they set with their cute, pleading eyes LOL!
So how does an animal communicator tackle these issues?
With a combination approach that ultimately means building a more harmonious and loving relationship with our dogs. Stay tuned for more information!
